Accommodation
We will be accommodated in the Seminário de São Paulo Almada, Lisbon during the weekend.
Accommodation information:
Seminary name: SEMINÁRIO DE SÃO PAULO DE ALMADA
Address: Rua D. Álvaro Abranches Câmara, 1 2800-016 Almada
GPS: 38.681389571176865, -9.162824287618546
https://smspaulo.diocese-setubal.pt/
The seminary is located in Almada, on the south bank of the Tagus River, just across from Lisbon. It’s about 15-20 km from Lisbon Airport, with travel times typically 20-40 minutes depending on traffic and the mode chosen.
At night, entry to the Seminary must be made before 11 p.m.
Arrival by plane:
1. Taxi (Quickest and Most Convenient Option)
The ride to Almada is straightforward via Ponte 25 de Abril bridge. The travel time is approximately 20-35 minutes (traffic-dependent).
Our local brothers and sisters advise to use TVDE (portuguese designation for Uber and Bolt), as it is the quickest and most convenient option
• Tips: Use licensed TVDE apps (like Uber/Bolt). For safety, contract on-site or via app — never accept approaches inside the terminal.
• Call Uber/Bolt and wait in the covered parking lot P2 (at the arrivals level, to the left when exiting the airport) where there is an exclusive area for passenger pick-up (follow signs for P2 or TVDE).
Official airport info on taxis/TVDE: https://www.lisbonairport.pt/en/lis/access-parking/getting-to-and-from-the-airport/public-transportation (mentions on-site pickup and apps).
Taxis are also available at Lisbon Airport arrivals but prices may be impredictable.
To book a pre-arranged taxi/transfer (recommended for groups or to avoid queues; often fixed price and meet-and-greet)
• Popular reliable option: https://www.shuttledirect.com/en/transfer/lis/pt-almada.html
• Another: https://city-airport-taxis.com/airporttransfers/reservations/taxi-from-Lisbon-Airport-to-Almada
2. Public Transport Options (Cheaper but Involves Transfers)
Public transport is efficient and integrated (use the Navegante card for metro, buses, ferries, and some trains — buy at airport metro station or machines). Estimated total cost: usually €3-10 per person. No direct single vehicle to the seminary from the airport.
Most common route (Metro + Ferry + Bus/Walk — total ~60-90 min):
- Official sites:
- Lisbon Airport public transport guide (Metro, buses): https://www.lisbonairport.pt/en/lis/access-parking/getting-to-and-from-the-airport/public-transportation
- Metro (Metropolitano de Lisboa): https://www.metrolisboa.pt/en/
- Carris (Lisbon buses/trams, but south bank is TST/Carris Metropolitana): https://www.carris.pt/en (check connections)
- Fertagus (trains to south bank/Almada): https://www.fertagus.pt/en
Pro tip: Buy a Navegante card (€0.50 + top-up) at the airport for seamless use across networks. Check schedules in advance as some services run less frequently late at night.
Arrival by car:
Car parking is possible in the seminary premises.
Miscellaneous
- Please try to have cash money to pay for the weekend and (if used) also for the extended stay
- The bed sheets and towels will be provided by the seminary
- If you play any music instrument, please bring it with you (if possible)
- For liturgy and praise we will use the electronical song book (EmmaSongs) which you can download on your mobile
-
Portugal sticks to Western European Summer Time (WEST / GMT+1) during April, but most of you coming from Central Europe (like Budapest, Warsaw, Vienna, Berlin, Prague) will be on Central European Summer Time (CEST / GMT+2).
That means Lisbon is 1 hour behind your home time (e.g. when it’s 8 PM in Budapest / Warsaw / Prague (CEST) → it’s 7 PM in Lisbon (WEST))
Plan your arrival / evening arrivals accordingly. We’ll use local Porto time for all schedules on the weekend
